Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Bio-Flex starts deliveries in India: Efficiency, specs and more

Maruti Suzuki India has started delivering India’s first flex-fuel passenger car, Wagon R Bio-Flex, to customers. The first batch of Wagon R Bio-Flex has been delivered to the Indian Sugar and Bioenergy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) in New Delhi. The model can run on ethanol-petrol blends and comes amid a government push to adopt ethanol fuel to cut emissions and reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels. The launch highlights growing interest in alternative fuel technologies and electric vehicles.this Maruti Suzuki Wagon R The Bio-Flex is priced at Rs 7.24 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 86,000 more expensive than the standard Wagon R ZXi+ MT on which it is based. The flex-fuel hatchback is currently only available to commercial buyers. Speaking of the engine, it is powered by a 1.2-liter K12N naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 91 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Output figures are the same as the E20-compliant version, and Maruti says the Bio-Flex model receives hardware and software revisions to support ethanol blends up to E85. These include updated fuel injectors, new fuel pump, improved fuel lines, recalibrated ECU and ethanol sensor.The company has not yet disclosed the fuel efficiency figures of the Wagon R Bio-Flex. By comparison, the standard Wagon R with the same engine puts out 23.56kpl with the manual gearbox and 24.43kpl with the AMT gearbox.In terms of features, the WagonR Bio-Flex comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, manual air conditioning, semi-digital cluster, all power windows, rear AC vents, fog lights, rear parking sensors, rear wiper and washer, six airbags, ABS, ESP, and more.
