‘You have to make money’: Former India cricketer says Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shouldn’t replace ‘wonderful’ Sanju Samson yet | Cricket News
former indian cricketer Saba Karim Think it’s too early to think 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could replace him Sanzhou Samson India T20I team. He backed Samson’s recent performances and said the youngster should be allowed to develop without comparison.Suryavanshi was part of the Indian team in the T20I series against Ireland and England but is yet to make his international debut. Instead, India continues to back the top trio of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, who played a vital role in India’s 2026 T20 World Cup victory. When asked if Soriyavanshi could replace Samson in the starting XI, Karim dismissed the suggestion.“I don’t think so at this stage. Samson is a fantastic player. He is the winner of the game. He performed well in the IPL season. Before that, he was the best player in the T20 World Cup. What are we looking at? Sanju Samson would be thinking, ‘Why is everyone pointing guns at me?’ ‘” Karim said on the “Star Sports” program, according to News18.Karim also said that it could be in Suryavanshi’s favor to stay in the Indian team and not play immediately.“It has been a good learning curve even for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He also understands that to get into the Indian XI, you have to earn call-ups. This environment will help him grow as a player and a person. Even though he has such incredible talent, when you come into such a competitive environment, you need to bide your time,” he added.Sooryavanshi was one of the most talked about young players after IPL 2026. He scored 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals with a strike rate of 237.30 and was named the Player of the Tournament.India did not make his debut in the series against Ireland, which they lost 2-0.Still, Karim believes the teenager’s time will come.“I have full confidence in his ability to score good results. Not just Indian fans, the whole world is waiting to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi perform the way he did in the IPL. I have high hopes for this young lad. Soon, we will see him in all three formats. I am very sure about it,” Karim said on JioStar, as quoted by news agency IANS.India and England will play the second T20I on Saturday.
