Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again showed why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents, scoring a stunning 94 off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Nations series final. The 15-year-old hit 10 fours and 8 sixes at an incredible strike rate of 324.14, finishing six runs short of a century. While this innings was India A’s most devastating 50-over innings, it was not the fastest-scoring innings of his young career.The 15-year-old opener launched a stunning attack on the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A elected to start, hitting just 11 half-centuries, creating a stunning sequence of 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6 in his first 11 deliveries. In the process, Sooryavanshi broke the world record 12-ball fifty set by Sri Lankan Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005. But that was only his second-best hitting inning. Although Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s highest score for India came in the 2026 U19 final against England, Vaibhav destroyed England’s bowling attack with 15 fours and 15 sixes, scoring 175 runs in just 80 balls at a strike rate of 218.75, and helped India post a record 411/9 in the final.
