new delhi: wicketkeeper batsman Sanzhou Samson Due to his poor performance, he was left out of the squad for India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The selectors announced the 15-member squad for the tour and Shreyas Iyer was named the captain. Teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who just made his international debut, retained his place in the team. Rajasthan fast bowler Ashok Sharma has also been named in the senior India squad for the first time. The pacer had earlier been selected in the India A squad for the tri-series in Sri Lanka.
Poor performance cost Samson his place
Samson has struggled in recent games. In the first match, he scored just one run off 7 balls and was therefore left out of India’s starting XI for the second T20I against England.Prior to this, he also had a disappointing performance in the series against Ireland, scoring 0 and 5 runs in the two T20 matches.Although he was one of India’s key players in the shortest format, he was left out of the Zimbabwe squad after a series of low scores.Being left out is a huge setback for Samson, who played a crucial role in India’s recent T20 World Cup win.His consistent performance in the game earned him the Man of the Match award.
