Director Ruchir Arun He spoke about the experience of making ‘Musafir Cafe’, which stars Vikrant Massey, Mahima Makwana and Vedika Pinto. Having previously helmed projects like ‘Small Things’, ‘Ghar Waapsi’ and ‘Loot Kaand’, Ruchir said ‘Musafir Cafe’ required careful planning and teamwork throughout the production process.The director opened up in an interview with ETimes, “One of the biggest challenges of telling a long story is that you have to shoot more things than you can film, while still maintaining what the audience expects from the show. This was our biggest problem at Musafir Cafe- For me, the staff and the actors alike. Every day, we tried to balance speed and creativity, making sure that even though we were moving through the production, we didn’t get distracted from the concept or the look of the show. What made this possible was the team’s total belief in the issue. Our Director of Photography, Anirrudh Patankar, Production Designer, Naveen Lohara, and Costume Designer, Roshni Bose, along with their amazing teams, care deeply about these characters and the story. He pushes himself every day, and I think that dedication shows in every race. “

Talking about Vikrant Massey, Ruchir said the actor’s natural personality made him the right choice for Chander’s character. He added that Vikrant’s credibility as an actor helped create a sense of credibility throughout the series.The director also pointed out how the actor encouraged his co-stars during filming, which strengthened the chemistry between the characters.He said, “Vikrant brings realness to his characters, and that’s exactly what Chander needs. Chander is a normal guy who has an amazing imagination, and Vikrant has a unique everyman quality that makes him instantly relatable. There’s nothing contrived about his acting. He’s a generous actor.” He always supports and uplifts his co-stars, and this generosity creates true chemistry on screen. ‘Musafir Cafe’ is adapted from Divya Prakash Dubey’s novel of the same name. Ruchir revealed that the show was already written by showrunner and writer Sharanya Rajgopal before she joined the project. He explained that his main responsibility is to maintain the depth of the characters and ensure that the world looks believable on screen.Sharing it, Ruchir said, “Actually, by the time I came on board, the first draft of the play had already been written by the showrunner and writer, Sharanya Rajgopal. So the work of adapting the novel was largely done by her. As a director, my goal at that time was to save the lives of these people, and the credibility of the world. More than retelling the book, I wanted the audience to believe that these characters are real, and to see themselves in Chander, Sudha and Preeti. “Apart from ‘Musafir Cafe’, Ruchir is directing ‘Nazdeekiyan’, an upcoming series that will air on OTT. Although he chose not to reveal details about the story, he confirmed that it involves two families and explores a complex relationship.The filmmaker also said that the project is special as it marks his first collaboration with Dharma Productions.He shared, “It is still too early to talk about the details of this project, but I can say that Nazdeekiyan is a mature love story based on two families, and it will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It is a very special project for me because it is the first time, working with Dharma Productions is a better place to tell love stories than anything I am excited for Dharma?
