India vs Zimbabwe live score, 3rd T20I: Shreyas Iyer’s India-eyed sweep; Prabhusimran Singh about to make debut?
The series marked India’s much-needed revival after consecutive T20I series losses to Ireland and England. Back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe have taken the pressure off new captain Iyer, who confirmed after the second game that changes could be made due to Prince Yadav’s hamstring injury. The fast bowler impressed with two wickets before leaving injured, making Ashok Sharma the frontrunner to replace him. India is also likely to hand an international debut to explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh, while all-rounder Suryansh Shedge is still expected to make his T20I debut.
India’s batsmen achieved some positive results throughout the series. Ishan Kishan returned to form with an attacking display, Tilak Varma provided stability in the midfield and youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his fearlessness at the top. Abhishek Sharma contributed 3-17 in the second T20I despite a tilted bat.
Speaking after India’s series win, vice-captain Tilak Varma admitted that the win was a relief after the disappointment of the previous two series. He felt Ishan’s aggressive innings set the tone, highlighted the importance of Iyer’s quick contributions and revealed his determination to develop into a reliable all-rounder by contributing two to three overs regularly.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will be looking to end the series on a positive note after struggling to match India’s intensity. Brian Bennett has shown glimpses of his potential but the hosts have failed to establish a substantial partnership with either bat or ball.
With the series decided, Sunday’s match provides an ideal opportunity for India to try out while maintaining winning momentum amid a hectic international schedule.
