Burn Boy joins the lineup
Afrobeats master Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus – a choir of elementary school students based in Staten Island, New York – will also perform.Of all the actors, the addition of Burna Boy is the most important: He is one half of the official song of the World Cup, “Dai Dai”, led by Shakira. The song is a mix of their music: Afrobeats and Latin rhythms, international, multi-cultural music. In the same song, they will say the words of many of the world’s leaders who are participating in this year’s national anthem: “Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia,” Shakira is happy. “Mexico, Japan, Korea, Netherlands.”“The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments that unites the world,” Burna Boy said in a statement. “To represent Africa at the first ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show is an honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly.”

The show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is raising $100 million to help children get education and football. And although the Super Bowl is famous for its halftime show, such performances are not common in football, with events like the Champions League final featuring a concert before the show. This year’s World Cup halftime show will also feature characters from “Sesame Street,” as well as Muppets like Kermit and Miss Piggy.
