India suffered a major setback ahead of the ODI series decider against England at Lord’s as pace-setter Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out with a knee injury. Captain Shubman Gill confirmed the news at the toss after England won and elected to bat first.“We could have bowled. Bum was out with a knee injury. KL, Prince and Ashdeep came in. We were going to bowl four seamers. We were in a good position but lost too many wickets,” Gill said during the toss. While Bumrah’s absence is a major blow for the visitors, KL Rahul, who missed the last ODI due to illness, returns to the starting XI. India also fielded Prince Yadav and Arshdeep Singh, who opted for a four-man pace attack in the winner-take-all format.England made one change with Josh Tongue replacing Saqib Mahmood. Captain Harry Brooke, after electing to bat first, said Joe Root’s match-winning knock in the last ODI provided his team with the ideal blueprint.“We’re going to take a bat today. Looks good on the surface. Tongue return Saqib Mahmood. The way Rooty is batting has set a good template. Hopefully we can assess the situation soon,” Harry Brooke said during the toss.
