The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Class 10 Second Board Examination Result 2026 on the official website cbse.gov.in. Students taking optional modified exams can now access their digital score sheets through DigiLocker, and scores are also available on the board’s official website.The second board exams, introduced for the first time this year, offer students an opportunity to improve their scores without losing their scores in the first exam. Under the new system, the higher score obtained in the two exams will be reflected in the final grade sheet.
CBSE implements two-board examination system
The 2026 academic session witnessed the launch of the two-school examination framework for Class 10 under the NEP 2020 reforms. While taking the first board exam remains mandatory, the second exam is optional and designed specifically for students seeking higher scores.The initiative aims to reduce test-related stress by giving students another opportunity to improve their academic performance rather than relying on a single high-stakes test.According to CBSE, the final mark sheet will automatically reflect the best marks obtained in the two attempts.
How to Download CBSE Class 10 Second Board Mark Sheet
Students can obtain their digital rubric through DigiLocker by following the steps below:
- Visit the DigiLocker website or open the DigiLocker mobile app.
- Log in using your registered mobile number or Aadhaar credentials. New users must first complete the registration process.
- Navigate to the Published Documents section and select Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
- Click on the 2026 Class 10 Result List/Pass Certificate.
- Enter the required credentials including student number, school number and admission ticket ID (if required).
- Submit your details to view, download and save the digital rubric for future use.

Minimum passing score remains unchanged
CBSE has retained the existing passing criteria for the second board examination. Students must obtain at least 33% marks to be declared successful.Candidates who do not meet the minimum qualification requirements must appear for the compartment examination in accordance with the regulations of the Board.
More than 500,000 students took the exam
The launch of the second board exams has created a huge response with more than 5 lakh students registering for the optional improved exams.Earlier this year, the overall pass rate for the first Class 10 board examination was 93.70%. The purpose of the second test is to provide students with another opportunity to strengthen their academic performance before enrolling in high school.The announcement of the second board results completes the first full cycle of CBSE’s revamped Class 10 exam model, which is expected to play a central role in the board assessment framework in the coming years.
