Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has also seen a sharp decline in its earnings at the Indian box office. The film, which entered its fourth week in theaters, saw a sharp decline in collections on Friday, coinciding with the release of Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated epic ‘The Odyssey’, which has become a new choice for Indian film lovers.
‘Welcome To The Jungle’ Box Collection Box Day 22
According to sacnilk’s preliminary estimates, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has only collected 20 lakh on Day 22, from around 738 shows playing in theaters across the country. The latest figures take the film’s total in India to Rs 132.05 crore, while its Indian collection stands at around Rs 156.89 crore.According to the report, Friday’s fourth run shows a huge drop of 60 percent from Thursday’s which has collected Rs 50 lakh. This decline also comes as the film nears the end of its run.
‘Welcome To The Jungle’ weekly collection
The film received a positive response, collecting around Rs 93 crore in its first week. However, it was unable to sustain that momentum in the following weeks. According to the report, the film, in its second week, the collection dropped significantly to around Rs 31.90 crore, while in the third week the collection fell in the same category, which only added Rs 6.80 crore. Now, the film is starting its fourth weekend on a low note and has collected only Rs 20 lakh, it remains to be seen if it will continue the trend of the next week.
‘Welcome To The Jungle’ international offering
Despite a slow decline in India, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is on track to cross the 200 crore mark at the international box office. The film has collected Rs 33.35 crores in the international markets, taking its worldwide total to Rs 190.24 crore. It remains to be seen if the movie can add Rs 10 crore to its collection this week before it plans its OTT release.
‘The Odyssey’ vs ‘Welcome To The Jungle’
The low box office of the film can be linked to the arrival of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which was released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Hollywood epic was a huge success, earning around Rs 20.76 crore and collecting Rs 17.40 crore on its opening day. Driven by the IMAX crowd and the high-definition format, the film has managed to command more and more audiences, attracting audiences who might otherwise have opted for a home release.Notably, Nolan’s latest film has also won the box office records of ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, making it one of the highest grossing Hollywood films in India.
