Vikrant Massey says ‘Mirzapur’ had 85 percent men who loved testosterones, men who love him among the fans ask that there is no film: ‘I wish they didn’t kill me’ | Hindi Movie News
The much awaited ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is all set to bring the beloved crime story from OTT to the big screen in September. The recently released teaser has already created a buzz, with fans celebrating the return of their favorite characters like Munna Bhaiya (Divyeenndu) and Compounder (Abhishek Banerjee). However, fans agreed that there was none Vikrant Massey in this movie. Although Bablu Pandit will be back in the film, the character will be portrayed by Jitendra Kumar instead of Vikrant. Why Vikrant left one of the most memorable performances is unknown. However, during the teaser launch of ‘Mirzapur’, Vikrant recently recalled memories of the series. The actor looked back fondly on his time in the series and admitted that he still wants Bablu’s story to continue. “I wish they hadn’t killed me,” Vikrant said with a smile while talking to FLO Bangalore Official. He also said that he never thought that his character or the show would become a cultural phenomenon when he first came out.“When Mirzapur came to me, it was a group of people excited to come together. There were a lot of wonderful women who were also there, but mainly the show was, say, probably 85 percent male involved, in front of and behind the camera. It was just a group of people who came together and said, “Let’s do this show.” It was based in the villages of India at a time when such stories were still rare in mainstream entertainment. “So it was a group of people who would get together, go out there and eat our testosterone, our manhood, or our fatherhood, if you will.”He also reminisced about the overwhelming response he received after its release and how Bablu Pandit became a household name almost overnight. “I clearly remember that I was in Lucknow the day the show came out. I was shooting for a film called Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. I was doing a shift from 7 am to 7 pm. I entered the place around 6 or 6:30 am. Before it was very light. But when the shoot was about to end, I heard a commotion outside the place. The director and the assistants were having a bit of a hard time controlling the sound because we were shooting a mix of sound. And we realized that there were at least 200-300 people outside the place because the news was that Bablu Bhaiya was shooting there.Reflecting on this memorable moment, Vikrant said he was taken back by the amount of love from the audience, especially since it happened less than a day after the show started. “And this happened within 24 hours. The show started at 12 midnight, and this was the following evening, so maybe after 17-18 hours. There were people on bikes following my car. They wanted pictures with me, they wanted selfies, and autographs. And that’s when we realized that we had really made something good, something that people really enjoyed.“
