The first teaser trailer for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 3 is out and it promises to take fans into the darkness of Middle-earth.While glimpses of the Dark Lord, witches, Orcs, Elves and Dwarfs flooded the second trailer for 99, it’s also the interplay between them. Morfydd ClarkGaladriel is Jamie Campbell Bower‘s Celeborn that set hearts racing. The fantasy epic, expected to be Prime Video’s $1 billion project, returns in November as Charlie Vickers’ Sauron plans to create the One Ring and plunge Middle-earth into darkness.

Amazon released a teaser at its Hall H show at San Diego Comic-Con, with a first look at what creators JD Payne and Patrick McKay describe as a “very dark theme”. The footage opens with a spectacular lightning strike over Barad-dûr as Vickers’ Sauron declares, “Now is the time of power,” signaling the Dark Lord’s power in Mordor.

The cartoon sees Sauron continuing his evil plans, as his army prepares for all-out war, against the Elves, Dwarves, Men and Wizards. However, a standout moment comes when Galadriel is reunited with her long-lost husband Celeborn. The actor also includes memories of their first meeting and romantic dance, adding an unexpected note of love amidst the impending doom. Bower joins the party as the Elven lord Celeborn, husband of Galadriel and a legendary warrior against Sauron.Episode 3 will also feature the original Nazgûl species, known as the Nazgnagôl, giving viewers a glimpse of the doomed ring bearers before they became the legendary Ringwraiths.

In Hall H’s ensemble, led by Benjamin Walker, who plays High King Gil-galad, several new members were announced. Eddie Marsan will portray Thrain, the older brother of King Durin IV; Andrew Richardson joins as Anárion, Elendil’s youngest son and Isildur’s brother; Adam Young will play Marnûkh, a mysterious Orc “who may not be what he seems”; and Simon Pegg as the voice of the Balrog.

Prime Video also released a synopsis for the new season, “In Season Three, Middle-Earth is at war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies march across the world, defeating all who stand in their way. Only a few pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed within their mountain homes, and the eleven lands of Lindon and Rivendell, which are protected by the three rings. But inside the world of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the toilets of the Dark Lord day and night, he is concerned with using the power that will bring his last enemies to their knees: one ring to rule them all… to achieve his goal of controlling all life. “…The new season pushes the story closer to The Last Alliance of Elves and Men, with Payne and McKay’s sprawling saga now reaching the midpoint of its five-year run.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video on November 11. The release schedule is staggered, with the first four episodes dropping together on November 11, followed by episodes five and six on November 18, and the final two episodes on November 25.
