A few minutes before we take the stage for the highly anticipated ‘Ramayana‘ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, producer Namit Malhotra announced that the film’s trailer will not receive its worldwide release on July 24.The update came as a surprise to fans who were expecting the trailer to debut online following its Comic-Con announcement. Instead, Malhotra revealed that the international trailer, which was launched on Thursday morning, has been shelved.Taking to his social media posts, the producer wrote, “Today is a very special time for us Ramayana. My dream to take Ramayana in the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. “He continued, “Based on the above, we will be launching our trailer globally in the near future.”Expressing the film’s global ambitions, Malhotra added, “In over 100 years of Indian cinema, this will be a proud moment, as Ramayana it will be shown around the world like any other major Hollywood film in the world. This is unique because it opens up the opportunity for people all over the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with pride and passion. “Although Malhotra didn’t say why he stopped the trailer, his comments came amid international attention on student protests in India, leading many to speculate that the decision was motivated by pressure.
