New Delhi: Batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who just scored a record-breaking performance in the Tri-Nations series final, has shamelessly admitted his seniority of 50-plus Test cricket and said many people may not even realize how much experience he has in this format.The 15-year-old performed brilliantly in India A’s win over Sri Lanka A on Sunday, scoring a staggering 94 runs off just 29 balls. In the process, he set the fastest A-Class 50 record in history, reaching the milestone in just 11 deliveries. His explosive start helped India A defeat Sri Lanka A with 377/9, easily sealing their 66th consecutive victory with 311. Despite reaching the final after moderate bat-running and on-field brawls against the same opponent in the previous match, Suryavanshi said he never felt pressured.“I wasn’t expecting anything. Just wanted to execute my plan in the first ten games and move on from there,” Soriyavanshi said after being named man of the match.Questions were raised over his form and temperament as the youngster scored just 117 runs in four innings during the tournament. India A captain Tilak Varma praised the team’s resilience after recovering from consecutive defeats in the earlier games.“Everyone showed real character. Especially after we lost back-to-back games. And then we won by a big margin, which was huge,” Tilak said.“Everyone has played domestic cricket and has experience. It’s just a matter of pre-match planning. We start big, consolidate and accelerate,” he added.Sri Lanka captain Sahan Arachchige admitted the impact of Sooryavanshi’s innings.“Sooryavanshi had a great innings. We managed the innings well there but struggled in the last two overs,” Arachchige said.“When we go for big scores, the top order can come down cheaply. That does happen. The youngsters played well and the seniors also scored. It was a good game,” he added.
