Indian teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi officially announced his arrival on the international stage as he won two Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards for his outstanding performance in India’s 3-0 T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe in Harare. Sooryavanshi, who became India’s highest run-scorer in the series with 151 runs in three innings, blended fearless batting with remarkable composure beyond his years. Sooryavanshi says: “A dream come true”

Speaking after receiving both awards at the post-match awards ceremony, the youngster said the moment fulfilled a lifelong ambition.

“It feels really good. Our preparations were really good in the two or three days after arriving in Harare. I also played in the Under-19 World Cup here so I really enjoy playing at this venue and everyone is supporting me, the captain, the coach, everyone, so I’m very happy,” Solivanash said. Known for his attacking style, Soriyavansh said that despite his move into international cricket, he has never changed his natural way of playing.“My game is the same as my game in T20 cricket. I just want to do that for the team. In all three games, I try to give the team a good start. If I get a good start, then I want to extend the innings. That’s the only way I can do it. What I do in training, I try to replicate it in matches as well. It’s a dream come true, my first Man of the Match and Man of the Series!” added Soriyavanshi.

India beat Zimbabwe by 35 runs

India recorded a convincing 35-run victory as they swept away Zimbabwe 3-0 in the third and final match at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. Defending at 192, the visitors restricted Zimbabwe to 157/7, giving captain Shreyas Iyer his first T20I series win since taking over as captain.Zimbabwe’s chase got off to the worst possible start when Mayank Yadav dismissed Brian Bennett on the first ball of the innings. Yash Thakur then shocked the home team by removing Dion Miles and Sikandar Raza twice in the fourth over.Ryan Burl stood alone and remained unbeaten on 54 off 43 balls while Wessly Madhevere contributed 28 balls. However, regular wickets prevented Zimbabwe from threatening India’s total.
