Taking to their Instagram account on Friday, the group shared the sad news with the world, saying, “It is with great sadness that we announce to our strong family around the world the death of our brother Lou Koller. The loss we feel at this time is great.They also talked about their “dear friend” and how they will miss him. “This year would mark Sick of it All’s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou’s friendship, dedication and enthusiasm were constant throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and a well-known leader. Lou had the power to lift everyone at our shows with a smile and a sneer, mocking people in every corner of the world, and won the comments of people around the world.” They also thanked everyone who had helped them and Lou over the past two years and donated money to his hospital fund throughout. “You all helped Lou feel so special and so loved as he fought his last two years. Lou Koller’s musical journey began in 1986, when he and his brother, Pete Koller, formed Sick of It All with drummer Armand Majidi. After the release of their first album, ‘Blood, Sweat and No Tears,’ in 1989, Sick of It All became one of the most popular hardcore and rock bands of the time, quickly gaining top spot.
