Jennifer Finch was best known as the bassist of the popular rock group ‘L7’, a group that rose to prominence during the alternative rock music scene of the 1990s. Finch brought his unique style and ferocious energy to the group, which helped establish ‘L7’ as one of the rock bands of their time. Jennifer Finch’s health battle and medical complications
According to Rolling Stone, earlier this month, Finch announced that he was undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with brain cancer. When the singer was first diagnosed, he believed that his disease could be easily treated with radiation, but complications led to several surgeries. The procedures left him with a serious physical condition, which required extensive medical treatment afterward. In 2011, Finch was diagnosed with thyroid cancer again, adding to his medical history.
Despite her health problems, Jennifer Finch remained committed to music, photography and her creative work until the end.
Due to Finch’s illness and treatment, he has pulled out of the upcoming US tour of ‘L7’s’ Last Hurray Tour which was originally planned while the artist was in good health. At that time, Finch asked his bandmates to continue as planned. The group said through their representative, writing, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, sister and friend Jennifer Finch, whose fierce spirit, humor and boundless creativity helped create ‘L7’ and change all of our lives forever.”“
Jennifer Finch’s work with L7 is a solo project
‘L7’ was founded in 1985, and Finch joined the group in 1987. In a 2017 Rolling Stone profile, he was described as “an uncharacteristic and untrained bassist who added the same verve to their performances.” The band released their self-titled album in 1988, and Finch served as the band’s bassist for much of the 1990s before leaving the band in 1996 at the age of 30. His decision to quit came during a time when he was an alcoholic and was dealing with the death of his father.

After leaving ‘L7’, Finch played in two additional bands, OtherStarPeople and Shocker, while starting his own label, Little Pusher Records. He also worked professionally as a painter throughout his career. In 2015, Finch reunited with ‘L7’ and was featured on their 2019 album, ‘Scatter the Rats’. A GoFundMe was previously set up by friends and family to pay for his treatment and recovery, as well as to support efforts to create an archive of Finch’s career and complete a major production project that is expected to be released next year.
