The death of veteran filmmaker and actor K. Bhagyaraj has left a huge void in Tamil cinema. With one of his last films recently released in “The Dark” on July 3, the press conference of the movie was turned into a tribute to the legendary director. Director Ganesh K Babuwho wrote the story of the movie, fondly remembered the soldier’s achievements in filmmaking and explained how his intellectual spirit remained alive until his last days.
When the talent explained the script
Talking to media and media, Ganesh K Babu revealed some interesting details about his association with late filmmaker K Bhagyaraj. According to Nakkheeran, he said, “On the first day of ‘Dada’ shooting, he kept asking if there was any dialogue, because there wasn’t. The next event involved a long conversation with him. Before I could explain, he had already written a completely different version. At first I told him not to use it, but he did it anyway. By the time the shooting was over, he had assured me that his version was better. That’s when I realized how stupid I was.” Ganesh K Babu added: “After that, I did not carry the papers showing the incident.” He would already have his own Bible written and ready. Most of the dialogues he delivered in ‘Dada’ were written by him, and he followed the same path in ‘The Dark’.
Ganesh K Babu recalls his days with the late director
Ganesh K Babu also spoke about the shock of Bhagyaraj’s sudden demise and how his loss affected him personally. “His death was unexpected. The same energy with which he entered cinema stayed with him till the end,” he said. Remembering the day Bhagyaraj died, the elder said: “That day I was telling a story to someone. I have told this story to many people, but I have not told it as kindly as I did that day. Honestly, I feel like you’ve been standing by my side the whole time. I hope he will continue to be with us through the Darkness. This film is our tribute to him. “
A simple conversation became their last memory together
Sharing the last memories, Ganesh K Babu revealed that he wanted to give Bhagyaraj a small gift on the last day of “Darkness” shooting. He said: “He casually told me that his slippers were torn.” I immediately bought her a new one and helped her put it on myself. ‘The Dark,’ which features one of Bhagyaraj’s last performances, will be released on July 3. The film has gained more importance after the veteran’s demise, with the team hoping that the audience will celebrate his incredible contribution to Tamil cinema through his last appearance on screen.
