The federation will once again bring together some of the biggest names in world chess ahead of the tournament taking place in Bengaluru from September 3 to 13. One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming season is the return of world no. Magnus Carlsenwho missed the previous edition. Another major talking point is the debut of reigning FIDE Women’s World Cup champion Divya Deshmukh, who will be appearing in the franchise tournament for the first time.
When and where will the Global Chess League Season 4 be held?
The Global Chess League Season 4 player draft will be held in Mumbai on June 29, while the main event will be held in Bengaluru from September 3 to 13. This season’s final will be held on September 13 to determine the champion.
How does the Global Chess League draft work?
The six participating teams will form six-man teams through player drafts. Each team must select players from four categories:
- an icon player
- two superstars
- two female superstars
- a child prodigy
The league follows a unique six-board quick-play format where each board is of equal importance, creating a balanced and competitive team structure.
