England 225/4 (47.5 overs)

England vs New Zealand, third Test day 3 live score: Ben Duckett’s homecoming hundred lights up Trent Bridge

To Ben Duckett, the next few centuries would mean less than this one. The England opener reached his seventh Test hundred in just 88 balls in his home match, finishing with 113 off 98 balls. After a disappointing Ashes series and modest scores of 19, 33, 36 and 9 earlier in the series, Duckett finally turned his opening innings into a game-changing innings. He later admitted how emotional the moment was, saying: “You can see how much it meant to me to hit a century on my home ground. I was very emotional and trying to take it all in.”

Duckett, who skipped the IPL during the County Championship to work on his skills, believes the runs will eventually come. His innings included 18 boundaries, most of which came through covers and squares, and he never allowed the New Zealand bowlers to settle. It also became the second-fastest batting pace by an England batsman after the start of a Test innings, after Duckett’s batting against India at Rajkot in 2024.
