England vs New Zealand, third Test live: Archer, Stokes keep England alive with the ball

Despite New Zealand starting in a strong position, England’s bowlers never allowed New Zealand to score freely. Jofra Archer dismissed Tom Blundell early and later picked up his fourth wicket when Nathan Smith sent a short ball to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. Ben Stokes once again performed well, bowling 11 consecutive deliveries despite the physical demands.

After ending a stubborn partnership, he eventually dismissed Zachary Fox, with the wicket coming soon after news broke that this would be his last international match. Jamie Smith also played a key role behind the stumps as he convinced Stokes to successfully take on Mitchell Santner. Earlier in the day, Shoaib Bashir trapped Rachin Ravindra for 94, denying him a deserved century. England’s disciplined effort limited New Zealand’s scoring rate, but Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten strike ensured the visitors still claimed a commanding lead.
