Saikhom Mirabai Chanu once again underlined her status as one of India’s greatest weightlifters by winning gold in the women’s 48kg category.The Tokyo Olympic silver medalist overcame an unsuccessful opening attempt before dominating again with a total lift of 190kg. She set a new Commonwealth Games record of 85kg in the snatch, and then lifted 105kg in the clean and jerk to easily defend her title.The win completed a remarkable hat-trick of Commonwealth Games gold medals, following wins at Gold Coast in 2018 and Birmingham in 2022. It also brings her total number of Commonwealth Games medals to four.
Rishkantha Singh wins silver medal after equaling Olympic record
Rishikanta Singh Chanambam won the silver medal in the men’s 60kg category with his outstanding performance.The 28-year-old weightlifter from Manipur successfully cleared 116kg, 119kg and 121kg in the snatch competition. His best result tied the Commonwealth Games record.He then hit 143kg in the clean and jerk, but narrowly missed attempts at 148kg and 151kg for a final lift of 264kg.Malaysia’s Mohamed Anike bin Kasdan won the gold medal with an Olympic-record lift of 273kg, while Kenya’s Joshua Amunga Buya won the bronze with a lift of 260kg.
Raja Muthupandi completes India’s weightlifting medal bid
Raja Muthupandi secured a silver medal in the men’s 65kg category to ensure India’s three weightlifting medals.The Tamil Nadu powerlifter finished with 126kg in the snatch and then added 160kg in the clean and jerk for a final total of 286kg.Muhamad Aznil Bin Bidin of Malaysia set a Commonwealth Games record with 299 kg and won the gold medal, while Morea Baru of Papua New Guinea won the bronze medal with 282 kg.The silver medal capped a remarkable comeback for Muthu Pandey. Muthupandy, who missed the 2022 Birmingham race due to injury, returned to the Commonwealth Games podium eight years after making his debut at the Gold Coast in 2018, finishing sixth.
Boxers continue strong campaign

Swimming relay team advances to finals
The Indian men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team of Srihari Nataraj, Aryan Nehra, Aneesh Gowda and Dhakshan Shashikumar finished third in the second preliminaries and successfully advanced to the finals.India finished behind Australia and England in 7 minutes, 39.48 seconds, while pinning Jersey to secure promotion. They advanced in the heats with the sixth-fastest time.Later in the evening the quartet returned to medal contention and finished sixth in the Commonwealth Games final.
Bowling and gymnastics are a mixed bag
