Now, other celebrities are also weighing in on the matter, which includes Anurag Basu. In social media, he called for the film to be removed from the platform, and he compared the situation to another international film director who suffered the same fate.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Basu shared his thoughts on ‘Satluj’ and joined the ongoing controversy surrounding the film’s release, and its removal from platforms.He compared Dosanjh’s film to ‘Jafar Panahi‘, an Iranian director who experienced the same thing in his home country. He wrote, “#Satluj I never thought the day would come when Honey Trehan would experience what Jafar Panahi experienced in Iran.” He compared the situation of Honey Trehan with Panahi, a well-known official in Iran, who was abroad promoting ‘Inali Basi Ngozi’, when he was sent with a legal notice by the authorities in Tehran. According to the BBC, he was sentenced to a year in prison, as well as a two-year travel ban and probation.

Just two days after its release, ‘Satluj’ which follows the life of freedom activist Jaswant Singh Khalra as he investigates illegal logging and their nefarious connections in Punjab in the 1990s. However, the film faced many problems during its release.The video was released on ZEE5 2 to 3 days ago, however, recently the platform removed the project from their platform and issued a statement on the matter. We are very grateful to every viewer who chose to register, watch and win this film. Your love and support has meant a lot to us and to everyone who brought this story.“He added, “At ZEE5, we stand firmly with Satluj and the vision behind it. We believe that powerful storytelling can inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact. We are committed to promoting stories that are true and meaningful.” However, the team also confirmed that the film will not be available for release in India until “more”.‘Satluj’ was also scheduled to be screened at the Toronto Film Festival in 2023, a year after it was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification; however, when Indian officials raised concerns at the time, the match was cancelled.
