‘Don’t tamper with the symbols that represent the pride and identity of Tamils’: NTK Chief Seeman warns Jr NTR and Naga Vamsi over Lord Murugan’s ‘northern-born’ characters controversy | Tamil Movie News
The upcoming collaboration between Jr NTR and the director Trivikram Srinivas has found itself at the center of controversy even before production has begun. The controversy started after the announcement of producer Naga Vamsi’s description of Lord Murugan in a way that many felt was against the old Tamil beliefs. The book was quickly criticized on social media, with several voices questioning the explanation. The latest one is the co-ordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi Seemanwho gave a strong statement criticizing the picture.
Seeman objects to Murugan’s painting
In his statement, Seeman said that the producers should immediately reconsider the content used in the advertisement. Emphasizing Murugan’s status in Tamil, as Cinema Vikatan said, “The Tamil saying, ‘Wherever there is a mountain, there is Kumaran,’ shows the deep connection between Lord Murugan and Tamil Nadu.” He added, “Tamil and Tamil have always had the power to prove that Murugan is a special deity closely associated with the Tamil people.” According to Seeman, changing this for creative or commercial reasons is not acceptable.
Seeman issues a warning to the film’s crew
Seeman also urged producers not to continue with what he described as a false story. “For commercial gain, do not disturb the symbols that represent the pride and identity of Tamils. We will not be silent anymore,” he said. He also warned, “The film industry should immediately stop trying to create a myth that Murugan was born in the North and present it as art. Otherwise, they will have to face big problems.”“His comments have added to the controversy surrounding the project, with supporters and critics taking different views on social media.
Seeman wants to take action if the conflict continues
In response to his criticism, Seeman asked the theater owners and the Tamil Nadu government to intervene if the idea was changed. “If the film is released with the same story in spite of widespread opposition, theater owners in Tamil Nadu should come together and refuse to screen it,” he said. He said, “If this does not happen, Naam Tamilar Katchi will stage a massive protest to prevent the film from being screened in the state.Seeman concluded by urging the government not to allow the release of the film in Tamil or Telugu if it would hurt Tamil sentiment.Although the makers of the Jr NTR-Trivikram project have not officially responded to the criticism, Seeman’s comments have increased interest in one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema.
