Samantha Ruth Prabhu has spoken about her popular film Maa Inti Bangaaram, saying that she wants the film to stop reducing women to “appearance.” Directed by BV Nandini Reddy and produced by Samantha, Raj Nidimoru and Himank Reddy Duvvuru, the film also stars Gulshan Devaiah and Diganth Manchale, and earned Rs 4.85 crore in one day.

I saw that she was this compelling character with real depth and she had a lot of potential to entertain and I think that’s really rare, especially for women in cinema.” Also, I think the scenes are not really visible and I think it’s time to stop putting women in cinema to be seen, for a dance or a song or a part, just for the sake of watching.He added, “I think the audience has changed; they are open to new stories and they don’t ask if the hero is male or female anymore. They just want to be entertained; they want to be touched. If a character is written honestly and the story connects, people will accept it and I believe that’s where mainstream cinema is going and I’m happy to be a part of this journey.”
