Yash Dayal to join Chhattisgarh, seeks NOC from UPCA | Cricket News
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh pacer Yash Dayal has sought a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) to switch to Chhattisgarh for the upcoming domestic season. Dayal was widely speculated to feature in the UPT20 League after playing in the Ghaziabad Premier League in June, where he took 9 wickets in four games. However, the left-arm pacer decided to move on. Yash represented Uttar Pradesh in 27 first-class matches between 2018 and 2025 and took 84 wickets. In A cricket, he took 36 wickets in 23 games, while in T20 cricket, he took 66 wickets in 71 games. Dayal told the Times of India, “I have applied for NOC from UPCA. From next month, I will participate in the fitness training camp of the Chhattisgarh team and play for the Chhattisgarh team in the upcoming domestic season.” The left-arm pacer revealed that talks with the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association were on even before the season started but he initially needed time to make a decision. After discussing with his elders and family, he decided to move. Dayal said leaving Uttar Pradesh was an emotional and difficult decision as the UPCA had played an important role in his career. “Playing for UP and representing Uttar Pradesh ranji trophy Very special to me and something to be proud of. UP Cricket Association is very close to my heart. UP gave me recognition. I have played in the IPL and been selected for the Indian team. UPCA has contributed greatly to what I have achieved,” he said. Talking about the difficult phases he faced in recent times, including legal and mental challenges, Dayal said cricket helped him stay strong and focused on making a comeback. “As a cricketer, no one wants to go through a phase that changes his life. But cricket taught me how to come back and perform well in every situation. I didn’t shy away from difficulties. My family and coaches always supported me,” he said. “There were a lot of times where I wanted to give up because, despite my ability, I couldn’t compete. In such situations, sometimes the mental breakdown begins,” he added. The pacer also clarified his situation with Royal Challengers Bangalore, stating that the team has not given up on him. He said he is still a member of the team but is not traveling with the team this season. Regarding ongoing legal matters, Dayal confirmed that he has been granted bail in both cases and the proceedings are ongoing. “In both cases I have been officially granted bail and the cases are still pending,” he said. Meanwhile, a senior UPCA official told TOI, “Yash has applied for NOC and his request is still under consideration.”
