In one of his recent interviews, Sudeikis admitted that at first, he was on the verge of turning down the Stage 4 proposal when it came across his desk.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sudeikis revealed that he felt that his character’s story had already been told, and that he didn’t want to change anything in the new season. Reflecting on the matter, he said, “That was not the way to negotiate. [to Kansas City] to be with his son. I wouldn’t want Ted to uproot their life to justify the car. It didn’t make sense to me.”Sudeikis added that money was not an issue. According to the report, Sudeikis will receive $1 million for every episode he has worked on through the third season of the beloved show. However, what made him change his mind were the fans. He shared that he saw how much the work and the show had become for people around the world, and that he had to re-enter the list because of all of this. He added, “It (the show) saved me too.”Sudekis also said, “It’s contagious to play someone who sees the good in people and doesn’t get angry at the world for all its flaws and bullies and its shadows. It’s not like I’m Daniel Day-Lewis, but it was good to be in this – to have these lessons through your brain and your body all day. It’s like that. This is what some people need.”
