YouTuber withdraws Mercedes E20 mileage claim, engine failure surfaced
YouTuber Saurav Joshi has retracted his previous claims that E20 gasoline caused a drastic drop in fuel efficiency in his Mercedes-Benz SUV, saying the issue can actually be traced to an engine-related failure. He attributed the decline to ethanol-blend gasoline, saying that a full tank of fuel, which previously had a driving range of about 800 kilometers, can now only cover about 490 kilometers.After the video went viral, Mercedes-Benz India issued an official statement in response to the allegations. The company reiterated that all its BS VI petrol vehicles are certified for E20 fuel compatibility and comply with required regulatory standards.“At Mercedes-Benz, customer safety, vehicle reliability and performance are of paramount importance to us. All Mercedes-Benz BS VI petrol vehicles are materially compatible with E20 fuel and have corresponding certifications from relevant agencies. We are happy to provide any technical advisory support to our customers. Mercedes-Benz remains committed to sustainable mobility,” the company said in a statement.
