New Delhi: Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan Backing teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old has all the qualities to be a match-winner for the national team.Kishan made the remarks after India’s 90-run win over Zimbabwe in the second T20I in Harare on Saturday. India struggled early after loss Abhishek Sharma (8) and Sooryavanshi (20) within the first three overs, slipping to 29/2. Kishan then scored a brilliant 44-ball 81 to lead India to a win of 219-5. Zimbabwe were then bowled out for 129 as India sealed the three-match series 2-0 with one match remaining.Kishan said senior members of the team are helping Suryavanshi adjust to international cricket and encouraging him to ignore distractions outside the game.

“Waibhav is actually very smart. He knows what he is doing,” Kishan said after India’s win.“He knows how he has to hit the ball and how to hold his own on and off the field.”The wicketkeeper-batsman reveals that he is captain Abhishek Sharma Axar Patel Other experienced players speak to the youngster regularly to ensure he remains focused.“When you represent India, you have to know what to focus on,” he said.“Me, Abhishek, Aksar Bhai and many others have been telling him to think about cricket and not social media or outside noise.”Kishan said the team hopes Soriyavanshi can learn from the experience of senior players and avoid distractions early in his career.“When you have a player like that and you know he’s young, you never want him to get distracted for the wrong reasons.“So what we do as a team, we’re like brothers and he comes from where I am, so we just have to be happy and focus on what’s important. The mistakes we made in the starting lineup, he shouldn’t have done that. He should enjoy his cricket like he is doing now. “Kishan believes Soriyavanshi’s attacking style will have a big impact on India’s performance.“If he stays on the field, he can make a huge difference for the team. A player who can attack from the first ball can allow you to score 80-90 points in the power play,” he said.
