Speaking at ‘The Odyssey’ event in Mumbai on Saturday, July 11, Damon revealed that Kapur has become his favorite director and wanted to work with him.
Matt Damon over Shekhar Kapur being everyone’s choice
When asked to name an Indian filmmaker he would love to work with, Matt pointed to Shekhar Kapur. “The first filmmaker that everyone wanted to work with was Shekhar Kapur,” he said, adding that he was ‘very disappointed’ when he couldn’t be part of ‘Four Feathers’. He also stated that his previous commitment to the Jason Bourne franchise was what prevented him from participating. “I think I signed up for a Jason Bourne movie,” he said.
Matt Damon on his 20 year ‘loan’
Despite missing out on the project, Damon revealed that his desire to team up with Kapur is not over. “I think it’s always been on my list, so I want to go somewhere else. It’s like a 20-year debt that I’ve been carrying in my body. That’s it,” he added.

Based on Homer’s poem, ‘The Odyssey’ depicts the long, treacherous journey of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca. Matt Damon takes on the role of Odysseus, and Anne Hathaway playing Penelope. The film also stars Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
