Later, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting started a detailed review of the film. An Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) was set up under the Information Technology Regulations, 2021, to review the content and recommend action.According to reports, the commission felt that banning the film under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act was justified. The law empowers the government to ban content on the Internet for reasons such as independence, integrity, security, national security, stability and foreign relations. Reports also added that the team found that the story was not good enough. They say they believe the film shows what the terrorists did while focusing on what they say was done by the army during the Punjab war years.

The controversy surrounding the Satluj has attracted political attention in Punjab. Several organizations and political leaders have expressed different views on what the government has done. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged the authorities to lift the restrictions imposed on the film. When asked if the film has been removed worldwide, he simply replied, “Yes.” Earlier, after canceling the film in India, ZEE5 issued a statement saying, “As per the current situation, Satluj will not be available in India until further notice. We are committed to explore every possible way through the right channel to bring this film to our audience as soon as possible. “
