Their message came as students gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding reforms in education across the country and raising concerns about NEET. Apart from the couple, actresses Bhumi Pednekar, Huma Qureshi, Nandita Das, veteran actor. Shabana Azmi And screenwriter Sutapa Sikdar also expressed solidarity with the protesters.
Riteish and Genelia call the youth the future of the country
Taking to X, Riteish shared a message of connection on his behalf with Genelia, encouraging people to stand with the youth of the country and recognize the importance of their voice.The post said, “We stand in solidarity with the youth of our country. Their voices must be heard, loud, clear, and fearless. They are the heartbeat of our democracy and the real builders of our country’s future (sic).”The statement added, “Let’s listen, support, and encourage them. Protests focus on education reform
The protests were organized on the opening day of the Monsoon Parliament session. The protesters demanded changes in the education system and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the malpractices in the NEET examination. During the march to Parliament, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces.
CJP delegation to meet JP Nadda
Following the protests, the CJP delegation met Union Health Minister JP Nadda and submitted a memorandum detailing three demands. These include immediate release of hospital worker Sonam Wangchuk, resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly committed suicide after discharge.
Shabana Azmi says she fell ill
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi was also present at the show supporting the students. During the meeting, the 75-year-old actor reportedly did not feel well.Videos circulating on social media showed volunteers and security personnel helping Shabana after she appeared dizzy. He was then escorted to a nearby security room for treatment.
