After a successful theatrical run, Tovino Thomas’ drama ‘Pallichattambi’ is set to reach the masses through its digital show. Hosted by Dijo Jose Antony and written by S. Suresh Babu, a Malayalam film released in theaters on April 15. Following its run on the big screen, the makers have now locked down its OTT release date.

The makers have announced that ‘Pallichattambi’ will start airing on Sony LIV from July 24. The announcement was made through the official social media platform along with a new poster featuring the film.Sharing the update, Sony LIV wrote, “More चत्ताम्बि आनी SonyLIVल #Pallichattambi is streaming from July 24th only on SonyLIV.”

The film is set in Kerala in 1958, and follows the carefree Krishna Pillai whose life changes when he becomes the dreaded Pallichattambi.The story is set in the hill village of Kaaniyar where tensions continue to rise between the Church and communist groups. Krishna Pillai, also known as Christopher, has been brought to the village from Thomapuram by the Church authorities. Christopher is the artist of Yakshaganam portraying Ravana.
Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the main antagonist
The film is inspired by Vimochana Samaram, a political movement that ultimately helped bring down Kerala’s first communist government.One of the highlights of the film is Prithviraj Sukumaran’s portrayal of Patellar who is a ruthless landlord who represents the entire class of oppressive landlords.

The film received a positive response from ETimes, which praised both the story and Tovino Thomas’ performance.ETimes’ review says, “A fun touch at the end, but grounded in reality, director Dijo Jose Antony and writer Suresh Babu create a compelling story that gives Tovino Thomas another memorable role.”
