Mini India recently launched the new Mini Countryman C SUV in the Indian market. The new Mini Countryman C will be produced locally at the BMW Group’s plant in Chennai. Bookings have already started; interested customers can reserve the car exclusively through Mini dealers, with deliveries starting soon. The new Mini Countryman C will compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and other entry-level luxury SUVs in the same price range. Mini Countryman C vs BMW X1: Price The BMW X1 is available in two variants – sDrive 18i M Sport priced at Rs 50.90 lakh and sDrive 18d M Sport priced at Rs 52.90 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The Mini Countryman C is available in a single top-spec trim and is priced at Rs 47.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Countryman also comes in the sportier and more powerful All 4 trim, which is priced at Rs 66.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Mini Countryman C vs BMW X1: Dimensions The length, width and height of the Mini Countryman are 4,447 mm, 1,843 mm and 1,661 mm respectively. The wheelbase is 2,692 mm, the ground clearance is 190 mm, the wheels are 19 inches, and the luggage capacity is up to 505 liters. The BMW X1 is 4,500 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, 1,630 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,692 mm, ground clearance of 183 mm, 18-inch wheels, and a trunk capacity of 505 liters.The Mini Countryman is 53 mm shorter, 2 mm narrower and 31 mm taller than the BMW X1, but has the same wheelbase of 2,692 mm; it also offers 7 mm more ground clearance, larger 19-inch wheels and up to 505 liters of boot space compared to the X1’s 183 mm ground clearance, 18-inch wheels and 505 liters of boot space. Mini Countryman C vs. BMW X1: EngineThe new Mini Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine with 156 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 7-speed DCT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. The Mini Countryman C is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 212 km/h. It comes with a 60-litre fuel tank and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.92 kpl.The BMW X1 is available with a choice of two engines – 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo (136 Nm and 230 Nm). It is equipped with a 7-speed DCT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
