Pollard’s historic century ends in defeat
Despite Kieron Pollard’s historic century and breaking the record as the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket, MI New York lost to Washington Liberty by 30 runs in MLC 2026.Washington Liberty posted a formidable 245/5 on the back of Mitchell Owen’s knock of 155 off 68 balls, while Steve Smith and Mark Chapman also provided valuable support. In reply, MI York’s chase faltered early on, with Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran and Monak Patel failing miserably to leave the team at 34/3.Pollard fought back with a brilliant 100 off 56 balls and surpassed Chris Gayle’s T20 run record in that innings. However, the contribution of Corbin Bosch (35) and Romario Shepherd (26) was not enough as MI New York ended with 215/6. Glenn Maxwell’s all-around performance, including 2/37 with the ball, helped the Washington Liberty to a memorable victory.
