In a candid chat with Variety India, Boney was asked how he first collaborated with director Bapu on “Woh 7 Din”. The producer shared an interesting and detailed account of how the film came to be, revealing that it was not a straightforward journey by any means. He recalled, “After ‘Hum Paanch,’ we bonded a lot.” I used to go to Chennai many times because I wanted to do the next film with him. During the discussion, we came up with the idea of making a love story. It did not come to writing even after working for several months. We worked hard, but it didn’t really make us happy. Bapu was then given a Telugu show, a remake of the 1981 Tamil film ‘Andha 7 Naatkal’ directed by the late K. Bhagyaraj. He invited me to accompany him to see some of the games. There was another job to be done. At that time, there was no intention to remake the film in Hindi. After watching the film, I told Bapu that he should make it in Telugu, so he started working on it. I couldn’t put the film down. I wanted to buy the rights of the Hindi version, but Bhagyaraj did not want to give up, because his ‘Ek Hi Bhool’ is Jeetendra And Rekha was just too impressed and maybe she was expecting better. However, in the end, I persuaded him to allow me to remake ‘Andha 7 Naatkal’ in Hindi.”
