Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti have restored a 150-year-old Portuguese house in Saligao, North Goa, and transformed it into Casa Zen, a five-bedroom resort with luxurious interiors, a swimming pool, solar panels and lush gardens. The house is now available for rent to guests for Rs 75,000 per night, including taxes, according to Moneycontrol.Arshad Warsi has given his fans and followers a sneak peek of his labor of love – a beautiful 150-year-old Portuguese mansion in Goa, now called Casa Zen. The artist, together with his wife Maria Goretti, spent time reviving the heritage property, and the result is a wonderful mix of old world charm and bold, modern design.Arshad recently took to Instagram to walk followers through the transformation, sharing photos of everyone who helped bring Casa Zen to life, the carpenter, the potter, and the cleaning and polishing team. Among the pictures was one of a potter who made 40 pots in different sizes and colors for the house, and a video of Maria Goretti herself making a heart picture carved in wood.The bio on the resort’s official website describes Casa Zen simply: a 150-year-old Portuguese house lovingly restored, where stepping inside feels like a warm embrace.
Inside Casa Zen
Located in Saligao, North Goa, Casa Zen has five bedrooms and combines its old Portuguese architecture with sleek, modern interiors. The entrance is made of indigo walls, while one of the bedrooms takes a soft approach with white and cream paint, supported by warm lighting and wooden accents.Outside, the bungalow keeps things very clean, with pops of indigo and yellow breaking up the façade. For sustainability, Arshad also installed solar panels on the roof – a useful addition to the heritage. The house also has a large swimming pool, a landscaped garden and a mango orchard, which appeals to it as a quiet, green retreat away from the city.Although Casa Zen is the Warsi family’s vacation home, it serves as a rental property for guests. According to Wildflower Villas, which manages the booking, the entire five-bedroom house can be rented for Rs 75,000 per night, excluding taxes. Guests get access to the pool, garden and amenities, making it one of the most popular places to stay in the quiet pockets of North Goa.
