Sri Lanka Under-19 344/4 in 89.0 overs

India U19 vs Sri Lanka U19 Live Score, 1st Unofficial Test, Day 2: Senuja Wekunagoda scored an unbeaten 203 to lead Sri Lanka U19 to a score of 344 runs in the first youth Test against India U19 on Monday.

After electing to bat, Sri Lanka recovered from an early collapse to dominate the rest of the day, with Vekuna Goda sealing the innings with a superb knock.

India launches early attack before Sri Lanka recovers

India got off to a perfect start after pacer Kavya Paresh Patel dismissed two openers in the first three overs.

Patel took Dimantha Mahavithana for 2 and Dulnith Sigera for a duck as Sri Lanka fell to 2 for 3.

However, the visitors failed to extend that advantage and the home side staged an impressive recovery.

Wekunagoda shines with unbeaten 203

No. 3 Wekunagoda remained unbeaten on 203 off 227 balls at stumps throughout the day. His highlight-reel innings included 31 boundaries.

He was well supported by captain Vimath Dinsara, who made 52 off 99 balls, including nine fours. The duo added 143 runs for the third wicket to stabilize the innings.

After Dinsala’s dismissal, Vikuna Goda once again put on a crucial 128-run partnership with Kavija Gamage, who narrowly missed out on a half-century after scoring 49 off 121 balls, including nine fours.

Heenatigala adds to India’s frustrations

Wekunagoda then joined forces with Chamika Heenatigala, who was unbeaten on 33 off 77 balls, to add to an unbroken 70-run stand for the fifth wicket.

This partnership ensured that Sri Lanka were firmly in control of the opening day proceedings.

Indian bowlers struggle to find breakthrough

Barring an early outburst from Patel, India’s bowlers found little success.

Patel took 2 for 54 while Pranav Ragavendra and Yashbardhan Chauhan took one wicket each.

India rotated seven bowlers on the day but struggled to contain Sri Lanka, putting the hosts in a good position to post 89 runs in a marathon innings at Wekunagoda.

Sri Lanka enter the youth Test series on a higher note after winning the previous three youth ODI series 2-1.
