Haryana education reforms: Haryana CM Saini lays out blueprint to make state a world-class knowledge economy under NEP
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the government aims to make the state a world-class knowledge economy hub. To achieve this, the state’s education ecosystem is being reshaped along the lines of “redesign, reimagine and reinvest.” Under this vision, the National University and its affiliated colleges implemented comprehensive reforms in line with the National Education Policy (NEP). The Chief Minister was speaking at an event at Guru Jambeeshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar on Sunday. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 758 crore. These include the foundation stone of the Girls Hostel built at a cost of Rs 6 crore, inauguration of the Nursing Department building built at a cost of Rs 140 crore to enhance healthcare services and medical education, and inauguration of the Khejarli Mahabalidan Smriti Shilp and Mata Amrita Devi Circle built at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. He also announced that the nursing area will be named after Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, a release said. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy has been implemented across the country with the vision of making India a global knowledge superpower. He said Jambishwar University has set an example in effective implementation of the New Economic Policy and has been awarded the Excellence Award (Gold Medal) for the Implementation of the New Economic Policy 2025 by the Haryana Government. He described it as a matter of pride and honor. He said young people have high expectations from institutions like this university. These institutions should become centers of research and innovation, serving as a bridge between local industry and global technology. Only then can the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047 envisioned by Prime Minister Sh be realized. Modi made it happen. He also urged people to continue the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and said the path taken by Mata Amrita Devi and Guru Jambheshwar Maharashtra Ji will help realize the dream of our ancestors for environmental protection. The Chief Minister said that based on the teachings of Guru Jambishwar Maharaj, the state government firmly believes that the objective of higher education is not just to award degrees but to build an ethical, sensitive and aware society – one that is technologically competent but at the same time deeply rooted in its culture and committed to environmental protection. Talking about Guru Jamheshwar Maharashtraji and the Bishnoi community, the Chief Minister said that nature plays a central role in Indian culture and Jamheshwar Maharashtraji embodies this idea through his life and teachings. Based on these teachings, the twin-engine government is taking Haryana to new heights of development while maintaining harmony with nature. He said that the essence of Indian civilization has always been a close relationship with nature. In this great tradition, Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj launched an environmental movement in the desert region in the 15th century, a vision that was centuries ahead of its time. At a time when much of the world viewed nature as merely a resource, Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj declared it to be the basis of life, an integral part of Dharma and the highest means of public welfare. Saini said that the 29 principles put forward by Jambishwar Maharaj are not only precepts of religious sects, but valuable principles involving human life, environmental balance, social harmony, biodiversity, compassion for animals, water conservation, cleanliness, self-restraint and moral life. These principles are as relevant today as they were five centuries ago.
