Actress Geetika Vidya Ohlyan shared her emotional reaction after the film ‘Satluj’ was canceled. The film, inspired by the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, faced several hurdles before its release. It started on ZEE5 but was quickly taken down for security reasons. Diljit Dosanjh had earlier spoken about the limited availability of the film. Efforts are underway to get the film back on track through legislation.

The actress, who plays Paramjit Kaur Khalra in the film, looked back at the years of dedication that went into the project. He also expressed mixed feelings about seeing the film reach the public, despite its limited availability.Writing on Instagram, Geetika also spoke about the team’s long wait to bring the film in front of the audience. He appreciated that even though the film had been seen by some people, its journey was incomplete because it was not available in several places.He wrote: “For four years, we kept this film quietly in our hearts, hoping to share it with you one day. Today, that hope feels fulfilled and eternal, as Satluj finds his voice in some places while remaining silent in others (sic).”

The actress talks about portraying Bibi Paramjit

Geetika also narrated the story of Bibi Paramjit, wife of Jaswant Singh Khalra, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh. He explained that this opportunity was useful and he was very grateful to be part of the film.In his letters, he thanked the story and the family whose visit inspired the project. He wrote, “It was an honor to enter Bibi Paramjit’s world and stand next to @diljitdosanjh as she tells the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra ji and the family whose love endured beyond what words can describe.”The actor ended his message by acknowledging director Honey Trehan and his vision for the film.He added, “Congratulations to @honeytrehan for his decision. Films faced a long process before release

Directed by Honey Trehan, ‘Satluj’ is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film examines the allegations of dismemberment and illegal cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies during the Punjab civil war in the 1980s and 1990s.The project faced several obstacles before its release. During the certification process, reports say that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued several changes. It also said that it has asked the makers of the film to change the title of the film. The matter later reached the Bombay High Court, where the licensing process continued.After years of uncertainty, ‘Satluj’ was aired on ZEE5 on July 3. The film was released with little publicity. However, it only lasted a short time before disappearing from the platform.The promotion later said that the film will not be available in India until further notice. It also said that efforts are ongoing through the appropriate legal process to recover the film.Reports say that the removal follows the security guidelines issued under the Information Technology Rules. It is said that the Ministry of Information and Television has also set up a high-level committee to investigate the content of the film. The decision was taken by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and several political parties from Punjab.

Diljit Dosanjh has spoken about the cancellation of the film

Before the video was taken down, Diljit Dosanjh spoke about the issue during an Instagram Live session. He revealed that he already knew that the film would not be around for long.
