While Rahul recently left X (formerly Twitter), Chinmayi continues to address the issue through social media, criticizing abusive messages.
Chinmayi says trolls target her son
In a seven-minute video posted on Twitter (X), Chinmayi said that Rahul Ravindran decided to leave the platform after finding a picture that wished her son dead. He said, “Rahul’s tolerance reached its peak when he saw this tweet, which said he would pray for my son’s death. And he was inviting many people to his bhajana mandali to pray for my son’s death. This was because he could not control his temper or anger.” He also spoke about the culture of rape, misogyny, torture and the increase of online hate, saying that exposing children to such crimes crossed the line.
Chinmayi shared screenshots as the torture continued
Chinmayi later shared photos of messages she claimed were sent by trolls targeting her family. In her post, she wrote that some Telugu media users had wished her children dead because they saw her as a “feminist” and criticized women who spoke freely. She also said that she and Rahul are parents to three-year-old twins and says that online groups continue to spread hate towards her children. Chinmayi also said that those who encourage this behavior should not be supported on social media.
Rahul Ravindran earlier announced his exit on Twitter (now X)
Rahul Ravindran had earlier announced that he was leaving X (formerly Twitter) after reading abusive posts to his family. In his speech, he said that the messages affected him deeply and he realized that it was time to leave the platform. She said she was unhappy with the feelings she had after reading the post targeting her son, and decided to delete the app from her phone. Chinmayi’s recent posts have attracted a lot of attention, with many social media users expressing their support for the family and condemning child abuse.
