The popular actor and filmmaker shared his thoughts on the recent ‘Satluj’ controversy and shared that he stands for the release of the film. Earlier, he took to his Instagram stories to share posts from the OTT hosting platform, announcing that this time, ‘Satluj’ will not be available online on their platform.Kashyap posted the quote along with his quote, “The thing about banning something is that the more you ban something, the more people want to watch it.After that, he posted another story which has updates from the movie which he shared online. In the pictures, which featured Arjun Rampal on the cover, and the caption “This incident is the main reason for taking the film off OTT.” The filmmaker also urged people to watch the film regardless of whether it is available on any OTT platform, saying that they should watch it even if they get their hands on the pirated version. He added, “Plz sab log dekho, pirate karo par dekho” (Please, everyone watch it—do it if you have to, but watch it).
About ‘Satluj’
Set in the 1990s during the insurgency in Punjab, the film follows the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra who investigates and collects evidence of thousands of abductions and human rights violations at the time, and their connections with corrupt police. Diljit Dosanjh directs the film, which also stars Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan.The film was shelved for 3 to 4 years due to CBFC certificates. Earlier reports claimed that filmmaker Honey Trehan was instructed by the board to make more than 120 cuts while completing the film. The uncut version was released online on ZEE5 recently; However, within 48 hours, it was removed from the portal until further notice.
Center says ‘Satluj’ was released without fulfillment of certificates
ANI recently reported that the film was not cleared by the certification board, hence it was removed from India at that time. Another source said, “Satluj did not have the required approval for theatrical release. Instead of following the certification process, the makers changed the title of the film and released it on the OTT platform on Friday.”Earlier, Diljit Dosanjh had commented in his latest episode about the possibility of the film being removed from the platform, which was realized within few hours. At the same time, he shared that although he was disappointed by everything, he was still happy with the response the film was getting and that he watched the videos shared by fans on the Internet.
