Anvay Dravid scores 67-ball 87 for India U-19 team against Sri Lanka in second youth ODI | Cricket News
Mumbai: Anwai Dravid, younger son of former India captain and coach Rahul DravidIndia U-19 top-scored with a whirlwind 87 (67b, 9×4, 1×6) while Arjun Rajput smashed 76 (81b, 9×4, 1×6) to help India U-19 post a stunning total of 285 against Sri Lanka A in 47.2 overs in the second youth ODI at Hambantota on Monday.After opting to bat first, the India U-19 team slipped to 81 runs in four overs in the 19th over, before the 17-year-old talented wicketkeeper Anvay combined with Rajput to score just 126 balls for the fifth wicket to save the visitors with a huge partnership of 145 runs. India’s under-19 team’s two openers – captain Yashbardhan Chauhan (6) and Sagar Virk (4) – both lost the match and the score was 11 in the fourth over before Kushagra Ojha (38, 45b, 6×4) and VK Vineeth (24 off 45 balls) scored 67 for the third wicket to get the game back on track. Anvi, who is batting at No. 5, provided some much-needed impetus to the India U-19 team with a knock of 78 for three in the 17th over as he batted at a strike rate of 129.85 and reached a half-century off 47 balls.Sri Lanka Under-19 left-arm seamer Gimhan Mendis took 5 for 41 in 8.2 overs. Anvay scored 14 runs off 19 balls in the first Youth ODI at the same venue as India Under-19 team registered a four-wicket win of 321 runs against the hosts. Incidentally, Anvay’s elder brother Samit Dravid performed well with bat and ball in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 match on Sunday. Samit scored 40 runs off 28 balls with 2 for 23 to help Bangalore Blasters beat Mysore Warriors by eight wickets. Anvay recently led the Karnataka under-19 team to the quarter-finals of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He scored 220 runs in the tournament – the second highest on his team – with an average of 55.00 in six innings. India Under-19’s tour of Sri Lanka consists of three one-day matches and two four-day matches.
