Salman Khan‘Maatrubhumi’, based on the 2020 clash in Galwan Valley between the Indian and Chinese armies, is slated to release on April 17 to coincide with Eid. The date was later postponed, with the film slated to go on floors in August. However, reports now suggest that the CBFC has put the film on hold, making it unlikely that it will meet the August deadline.

According to NDTV, a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused the license of Salman’s ‘Maatrubhumi’, which is titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, till further orders.

Even before its release, the film caused controversy in China. After its trailer surfaced online, several Weibo users criticized the video for portraying a false narrative of the Galwan Valley conflict. The Ministry of External Affairs had addressed the issue in January, saying that issues related to film production in India are dealt with by the “appropriate authorities” and that the MEA “has no role” in such matters.
Salman Khan’s comedy ‘Maatrubhumi’ released on his birthday
The makers have unveiled the trailer of the movie on December 27, 2025, which coincides with Salman Khan’s 60th birthday. Salman plays Colonel Santosh Babu in the film, the commanding officer of 16 Bihar Regiment, who led the Indian army in the war while conducting a border alliance.
