Chicago PD: LaRoyce Hawkins to exit ‘Chicago PD’ in Season 14 after more than a decade as Kevin Atwater
LaRoyce Hawkins is moving away from the police drama ‘Chicago PD’ after more than a decade with the series. The actor, who has been a regular since the show started in 2014, will be leaving in the upcoming 14th season.According to Deadline, Hawkins will return to the show in the first two to three episodes of Season 14 to finish the story of Kevin Atwater before his departure. The exact way in which the character will appear in the series is still unknown, although sources indicate that it will happen at the beginning of the season. Hawkins also featured Atwater in various scenes that overlap with other police procedurals in the same franchise on the network.
Recent developments in Kevin Atwater
As part of the Intelligence Unit under the command of Hank Voight, Atwater worked closely with elite officers that recently included Adam Ruzek, Kim Burgess, Dante Torres, and other team members. The character has been described as charming, honest, and loyal, and fans often talk about his life and hope that he will find happiness in love. While Atwater had previously approached serious relationships, nothing materialized until Season 13 Episode 5, when he reconnected with Officer Tasha Fox, a former platonic friend with whom he fell in love. However, the potential romantic connection hit a snag when Tasha revealed that night that she was moving to Miami for a new job within the week. Before Atwater woke up the next morning, he was gone, leaving an orange as if shaking his new home in the Sunshine State, and inviting Atwater to join him.
LaRoyce Hawkins’ greatest career in television
Beyond his role in the police action, Hawkins has appeared in a variety of other roles including the Marvel series on the streaming platform, “Power Book IV: Force” and “Ballers,” among other productions throughout his career.
All three police shows in the same franchise were renewed earlier this year for the network, with shows expected to return on October 7 for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
