‘I don’t think he will…’: Cheteshwar Pujara on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s India debut in England | Cricket News
former indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara It is believed that it may take some time for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to get a chance in the T20I series against England. The 15-year-old’s international debut has been in the spotlight, especially after India’s 2-0 series loss to Ireland.“There is a lot of hype around him and as a young player he should not pay attention to what is being said about him. I think it is important to keep the outside noise away from him and the best way is to focus on the game. I don’t think he will get a chance straight away,” Cheteshwar Pujara told Star Sports.Pujara highlighted why he doesn’t want Soriyanshi to be included in the starting XI immediately as the team management is likely to insist on the World Cup winner’s top order Sanzhou SamsonAbhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.“India don’t want to change their top three and I don’t think Vaibhav will get a chance in the first two or three games. Once India starts performing well, whenever there is an opportunity to rotate, Vaibhav will come into the starting XI. What he has done in the IPL, it will not be easy to replicate the same in English conditions,” he added. After a good IPL campaign, Vaibhav was included in the India T20I squad ahead of the Ireland and England series, but he is yet to make his international debut. The youngster entered the national team in excellent form. He represented the India A team against the Sri Lanka A team in Dambulla and broke the A team’s record of 50 goals and 11 goals.Vaibhav also has experience of playing in English conditions, having toured with the India Under-19 team in 2025. He emerged as the run-scorer in that one-day series, scoring 355 runs at an average of 71 and a strike rate of 174.
