Dame Penelope Keith, the famous British actress best known for her roles in the classic 1970s dramas ‘The Good Life’ and ‘To the Manor Born’, has died aged 86. His family announced on Monday that he had “passed peacefully away from cancer at his home in Surrey”, where he had lived for more than five decades.According to the BBC, broadcaster Gyles Brandreth paid tribute to his favorite actor, reflecting on his remarkable career and enduring impact on British television and theatre. In his speech, Brandreth highlighted the importance of Keith’s famous roles and his achievements as an actor.

<p>Brandreth spoke eloquently about Keith’s legacy and the unique quality he brought to his work. “He was very famous, and he was really blessed to do something that is given to actors or very few actors. In his life he created a character that is about to enter the legend. <p>Brandreth emphasized Keith’s great acting skills as well as his comedy work. “He wanted to be a straight actor; he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, and he was a straight actor. <!-- -->We remember him for screen roles because no one did them better, but also Shakespeare, Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward, Sheridan, you name it. He also did great,” he said.<span class=In his Instagram posts, Brandreth shared his thoughts on Keith as a professional and as a person. “She was a special lady – a great actress, a true friend, funny, generous with the time she gave to good causes. His life was really good,” he concluded.

Dame Penelope Keith has a number of television roles

Keith became a household name thanks to her portrayal of rural neighbor Margo Leadbetter in ‘The Good Life’, which aired from 1975. Her performance earned her a BAFTA TV award for Best Light Entertainment Performance in 1977.The final episode of ‘To the Manor Born’ in 1979 reached an estimated 24 million people, making it the biggest audience of any episode on British TV that decade. The series cemented Keith’s status as one of the country’s most popular actors.
