The whereabouts system is an anti-doping rule that allows authorities to conduct random, unannounced out-of-competition testing of elite athletes.Athletes belonging to the Registered Test Pool (RTP) must submit position details every three months via WADA’s ADAMS platform or the Athlete Center app.They must also provide a fixed time period of 60 minutes each day during which they will conduct the test at a specific location.If a doping control officer visits within the one-hour window and cannot locate the athlete, a missed test may be recorded. Failure to submit or update location details is called an archive failure.Under anti-doping rules, any combination of three missed tests or failed submissions within a rolling 12-month period will be considered an anti-doping rule violation and could result in a one to two-year suspension.
