CLAT 2027 syllabus, UG and PG exam patterns remain unchanged; Alliance releases official update
The National Union of Law Universities (NLU) and the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) have confirmed that there will be no change in the syllabus or examination pattern of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027.The decision was taken at a meeting of the league’s governing body on July 18, 2026.According to the official announcement, the 2027 Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) CLAT exams will continue with the existing syllabus and exam parts.However, the CLAT 2027 convener and paper framers will take into account the suggestions in the CLAT Expert Committee Report 2026 regarding question quality and format wherever possible.The Alliance has also decided to publish the CLAT Expert Committee Report 2026 on the official website. Students, experts and the public can submit suggestions through an online feedback form until August 31, 2026. We will consider the feedback we receive when planning future exam changes.
CLAT UG 2027 Exam pattern
As there are no changes, the CLAT UG 2027 exam will continue to be in the existing format.The exam is a two-hour computer-based test and contains 120 multiple choice questions (MCQs). One point is awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 points are deducted for each incorrect answer.The test paper will include the following sections:
- English
- Current events, including general knowledge
- legal reasoning
- logical reasoning
- quantitative techniques
The governing body also said that the recommendations made by the expert committee will be reviewed for possible implementation in CLAT 2028.
