Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay is all set to end his film journey and as a result, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has become one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year. The film is directed by H. Vinoth who has not been able to deliver a very satisfying film since the release of Karthi’s ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’. With ‘Jana Nayagan’, H. Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol lead the film
Vijay plays Thalapathy Vetri Kondan (Vetri), an IPS, an upright police officer whose journey forms the basis of the story. The character is expected to be similar to Balayya’s performance in ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’. Pooja Hegde stars as Kayal, reuniting with Vijay after ‘Beast’. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol plays the role of the film’s main antagonist. His character is known by names including John Himler, Amrish Poojari, and Phoenix. Bobby’s previous Tamil outing was ‘Kanguva’.
Mamitha Baiju and Gautham Vasudev Menon play the lead roles
One of the most talked about additions in the film is Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, who portrays Vijayalakshmi “Viji” Srikanth. “I always dreamed of acting in a Vijay film, but now it’s not going to happen.” When I was drawn to act in this superstar’s film, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Now I won’t be able to act in a Vijay film.’”Director-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon is seen as Srikanth, Viji’s father and jail warden. Apart from the leads, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has a supporting cast, including Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, Nassar, Revathi, Sunil, Reba Monica John, and Nizhalgal Ravi. Reports also suggest that the film may include a special appearance by writer Anirudh Ravichander and filmmakers Atlee, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Nelson. However, this cameo appearance has not been officially confirmed by the makers. The film is supported by a technical team led by music composer Anirudh Ravichander, who handles all the music and background music. Sathyan Sooryan is directing the movie. Being on a budget of Rs 300 crore to Rs 500 crore, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is among the biggest projects of Vijay’s career. Meanwhile, Vijay’s first film was ‘GOAT’.
